Weight Loss Without Exercise: Possible or Impossible?

at 7/23/2013 0 comments
Without no more further ado, the answer is YES! There is still a chance for you to lose some weight and live a normal life. No more excuses like you have an injury, medical conditions, busy schedule, purely laziness and just plainly you dislike sweating. The good news is, it's still possible for you to fit on that skinny jeans or that old shirt you've been wanting to fit in again. The secret is just to choose the right kind of foods to eat and constantly don't eat beyond your calorie goals. To check how many calories you have to eat everyday, try this weight loss calculator.

These are the tips I can give to achieve weight loss or maintain your weight without doing exercise:

  1. Record Your Meal - as I keep on saying on my previous post, log diligently your food intake. I want you to do it everyday. If you think you're too busy logging your meal after you're done eating, why not try routinely logging your meal before you go to bed. Treat your favorite food logger as your daily journal or diary. In this smartphone era, I absolutely recommend you to record your meals using My Fitness Pal.
  2. Listen to your hunger cues - If you feel like eating something but if it's really not necessary to eat 'coz you've just eaten your meal or snack, please follow your mind and not your stomach. But if you really can't control it, opt for low caloric snacks like apples, oranges and any fresh fruits. Don't eat foods that are equivalent to your normal meal. Learn to know if this hunger your feeling right now is just a want and not a need.
  3. Choose the right foods to eat - Avoid eating sweets and sodas 'coz these foods aren't dense with good nutrients. Only eat foods that contains protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals because these foods will not starve you easily. In other words, eat more whole grains, nuts, lean meats, fruits, vegetables and reduced-fat dairy products.
  4. Create a meal plan for the week - research for new healthy food options to eat for the week. Buy a healthy cooking book for you to have an idea what to eat and what to cook for the week. Planning ahead is the key because if you just eat whatever it is serve on the table or whatever you think you like to eat, you will probably be tempted.
  5. Time to clean up your refrigerator and food storage - Avoid stocking junk foods, instant noodles, canned goods, or any processed foods to your storage. Stock only natural or organic foods to your refrigerator. During grocery time, always check the nutritional labels before you buy and support your local farmer's market.
  6. Always be physically on the go - This means that when you have the option to take the stairs than the elevator, choose the former. Engage in any physical activity at home or at work. Do some household chores by yourself or park your car a bit farther from your office or every time you do some groceries. Don't spend too much time on your computer or in front of the TV. Move your body once in a while. Play with your kids or walk your dog instead.
  7. Always be motivated - Surround yourself with people that will only lift you high and avoid negative, pushy and undisciplined people. Read motivational quotes everyday or on days that you feel like giving up. Reward yourself if you think you've done a great job. Buy a pair of your favorite shoe brand or dress if you've lost a couple of pounds or treat yourself to a spa or salon. Just live your life to the fullest and don't be consumed by other people's negativity. We only have one life. Enjoy it!
  8. Be realistic - if you really want to burn a lot of calories, you need to burn the calories by exercising but because you don't want to do this activity, don't live in a dream that in just a week you'll be able to fit in that skinny jeans. Dropping pounds will take longer without exercise. By setting a realistic weight loss goal of ½ to 1 pound per week, you’re less likely to feel deprived or discouraged and give up. Losing weight and improving our health is not a race but a life-long journey. (excerpt taken http://d2960f52.theseblogs.com)

How To Burn Calories In A Fun Way

at 7/21/2013 0 comments
I'm a law student but this year I took a time off because of financial reason. I'm still saving up money to continue my studies and hopefully to transfer into a new law school. Since I have nothing to do for a couple of months, here are the things I did and it's proven to burn your calories without the feeling of laziness to do it again. Going to the gym and attending class is really boring. I already tried both and I was just bored to the nth level especially that I have to commute my way to the gym is making me feel lazy and really really tired. So, I changed my lifestyle. I tend to move more and keep myself busy at home. By the way, my work is online and it has some good and bad points. Good, 'coz you can save a lot of money from commuting to and fro but the bad side here, your life is sedentary and you don't move a lot which is why I've gained a lot of weight for the past couple of years. Below are just the few things I did to burn all my excess calories.

Gardening

The house we moved in right now is quite cluttered and tumultuous especially their lawn. Weeds are all over the place. I just can't imagine living in a house full of tall grasses and snakes prowl like every week. So we decided to do some gardening. We pulled out the weeds, plant flowers and vegetables. If you think gardening is very easy and will be done in just a couple of hours and a day, you're wrong! If you'll be absent in just one day, weeds are all over the place again and the grass have grown tall again. It's infinite! Always remember that general gardening for just an hour will let you burn around 300 calories but it still depends upon the effort you're giving into it. Manually cutting grass using a gardening grass cutter will tone up your arms.  The photos below are some old pics I took while we are gardening.

These are some photos I took during the process of cleaning the vacant lot we called "The Garden". Here you'll see the Marigolds germinated and how they've grown tall in just 2 weeks. We also have shallots, radishes, carrots and bitter gourd where we use our old dog cage for support. Yes, we didn't hire any professional to do it 'coz it's out of the budget. We just want it to look better though not the best this time. At least, no more snakes prowling after rainy days plus you'll get to eat your produce.I will post new photos of our garden next time and compare it here.

Dog Walk

We have a German Shepherd dog and as owners we are obliged to walk the dog at least 3x a week or daily. But sometimes we feel so lazy walking the dog outside esp. that our neighbor's dogs are untrained and tend to attack other dogs and sometimes it's just rainy season. We hate to take the dog outside during this time and you'll make them prone to diarrhea if they'll accidentally lick anything on the way. We don't want to pay another visit to the vet right? Anyway, here's us walking the dog. Before I forgot, 60 minutes walking the dog is almost equivalent to 1 cup of rice which is around 200 calories. You'll not just burn calories but you also bond with your pet.

 Leisure Biking

Since we live in one of the safest place in our country plus this subdivision is very peaceful, we can enjoy a bike ride every afternoon. The terrains here are varied and biking is a must do. There are not much vehicles on the street which is very safe. You'll burn approximately around 200 calories if your weight is around 60 kilos or heavier per hour. If you have weight like mine (46 kg) we approximately burn around 138 calories per hour.

Swimming

Summer just ended here in our country and it just started in the US. In hot days like summer and when I feel like not in the mood taking the dog to walk, jogging or biking, I do swimming. My swimming skill is not really the best but I know a few moves. What you need to do is to just move your body a lot in the water and don't stay in one place. Have a swimming competition with your company or do the famous doggy swim style. So far, swimming helped a lot shrinking my belly fats. Every time you swim like a dog, your stomach muscles contract and this creates muscles in the long run. If you have a pool at home, or if you don't have, maybe a nearby public pool, school pool, or your friend's pool, why not try routinely have a swim. In your busy schedules you may do it during day offs, weekends or holidays. Swimming in general will burn 180 calories (125 lb), 223 calories (155 lb) and 266 calories (185 lb) in 30 minutes. Isn't amazing? Haven't you just noticed that swimmers have lean bodies? I have not  known a professional swimmer who is fat. Do you? I'm not sure of that.

The secret which is not really a secret is to move your body a lot. Don't live a sedentary life. A simple household chore will let you burn calories (Vacuuming, Mopping, Car wash, etc.). Don't just sit all day watching the tv, surfing the internet and munching junk foods. Get off your ass and do something! This will not only help you lose weight but it will also give your life an extra mile.

Secrets in Calorie Counting

at 7/16/2013 0 comments
Ever wonder how I continued my 1200 calorie diet plan? We can't deny the fact that when we go outside from our house, we tend to forget and eat whatever we want. Here are some tips I can share to control yourself from overeating when you can't prepare your own food.

  1. Before, calorie counting is very hard to maintain but in our time right now, as long as there is an internet connection, you can just easily check how many calories are there in a specific kind of food. Most of all, our lives are much easier right now by the help of our smartphones and tablets. As I keep on telling everyone of you to please download the app MyFitnessPal to your android or iOS phones. I've tried every calorie counting apps and this is the best of them all.
  2. Every time you use MyFitnessPal, always choose the highest calorie value of the food that appears every time you search for the kind of food you eat. Example is 1 cup of white rice is about 200 calories. There are some entries in MyFitnessPal that are inconsistent. Some 1 cup of rice entries are around 150 calories which is wrong and you must not cheat by choosing the smallest value of calories. You  must familiarize yourself  with the kind of foods you eat. At first, you find it very tedious but in the long run, you'll be able to memorize or be familiarized with them unconsciously. A person who have lots of excuse will accomplish nothing. Always challenge yourself.
  3. When going to the movies, please refrain yourself from eating popcorn 'coz actually, they are so high in calories. For me, it's better to eat the hotdog bun or small burger than eating popcorn. But of course, always eat in moderation if you really want the popcorn. The reason why I chose you not to eat popcorn 'coz in just a couple of hours, you'll starve again after eating them but if you ate a bun or burger instead, you will be full easily and may not eat again after the movie is done. Always weigh beyond  your conscience which food is better when in doubt.
  4. In very busy schedules, you can't help but to eat in fastfoods, always opt for food that are less oily and less carbo-loaded. Order for something protein packed or for an express garden salad but eat in moderation the Mayo salad dressing 'coz cesar salad dressings are full of oils 'coz it contains mayo and one ingredient of mayo is oil and 1 tbsp. of any oil is around 120 calories. Always opt for the LITE foods from the menu. Example is Ice Tea Lite which means it's less sugar than the regular ice tea.
  5. Always surround yourself with people that are health and body conscious and avoid people who keeps on tempting you to eat whatever they want. Always learn how to say NO and ask them to respect your decision why you don't want to eat whatever they offer. Your principle must not be swayed. Learn self control and if you really can't avoid these kind of people, don't hang-out with them. If they are truly your friends, they will understand your situation and respect your decision. But shit really happens and your cravings can't be handled anymore and you let yourself go, always remember to redeem yourself again by burning the calories away through exercise. Remember that you can't go fat in one night by eating a lot and you can't get the body you want overnight also. It takes a lot of work and determination. Never give up! You can do it!

I ordered Crunchy Chicken Oriental Salad and Lite Ice Tea instead of Garlic Chicken and Coke.
at my favorite Korean fastfood Bon Chon.

Always remember to live in moderation. I hope this article helps somehow. I love ya'll!!!

Part 3: 1200 Calorie Meal Plan (with meat)

at 7/11/2013 0 comments
Hi! This meal plan contains meat and a little bit of oil. Sometimes we don't have to be so strict with our diet that we will only eat fruits and vegetables all the time 'coz some people don't really have the taste for them. You really can't change the fact that some people are not used to eating without meat in their system. There are so many reasons why some people can't live without meat. One example is their job involves lifting heavy things, lots of strolling that will require a lot of stored energy. If you only live to eat carbohydrates also, you will starve easily since they're the first to be burned or use up by our body when doing strenuous activities. These people need meat to have a long term energy storage and to build and repair muscles. I guess this is a very basic information for all of us since this had been taught in school. Right? So, we can't really judge people that some of them especially me can't stick to purely vegetables and fruits plus I'm not brought up to a vegetarian family. Also, when I was a kid, my dad had a chicken and turkey poultry, a piggery and a farm where goats and cows are herded and when they've grown enough they're ready for consumption. Freakingly gross right? (esp. in the mind of a vegetarian) but that's how life goes. The truth is..it's only gross when the meat is not yet cooked but wait 'til it's ready and you'll forget about it! (lol!) So for meat eaters, here's my meal plan for you.

Breakfast:
1 cup rice -(200 calories)
2 small links of Longganisa or Chorizo (Skinless or not) - (approx. 230 calories)
1 boiled egg - (70 calories)
1/2 tsp. vegetable oil (approx. 70 calories)

*Cooked in a non-stick pan for less oil 'coz it will glide easily*

Lunch:
1 cup rice  -(200 calories)
1 cup vegetable soup based dish - (approx. 150 calories)

Snack:
1 medium size Granny Smith apple or Sunkist orange (50 calories)

Dinner:
2 slices wheat bread (toasted or not) - (70 calories each total of 140 calories)
1 tbsp. mayo lite or any spread as long as it's below 80 calories per tbsp. - (approx. 70 calories)
3 small leaves of lettuce (approx. 5 calories)
1 small sweet tomato (approx. 20 calories)
1 thin slice of salami (approx. 50 calories)

Total of 1255 calories (always remember, there's not always an exact 1200 calories meal but the figure is close enough to 1200 compared eating to a 3000 calories a day. It's not bad right?)

Disclaimer: I'm not a nutritionist or whatsoever. This is just what I ate when I reached around 47 kilos. If you have a violent reaction about this, then I have nothing to do. I just want to share one truth about losing weight that it's not what kind of food you eat but on how you eat your food. If you eat a lot and it's not a healthy food then don't expect you'll be skinny. (It's logical! right?) The less food you eat, the smaller you become and vice versa. Don't put a lot of restrictions to your self 'coz it will result to lots of craving and you'll definitely go back to your size again.) . There's always a cheat day to every diet. The world has so much to offer and it's just up to you to discipline and control yourself. Set limitations! Your best enemy is your own self!

From 60 kg to 46 kg

at 7/10/2013 0 comments
Hey Guys! What are you been up to for the past couple of months? Me, I've been so busy watching tv series and movies, baking cookies, biking, running, grooming the pets, cleaning the house and eating healthy. I really forgot posting photos of my recent birthday celebration. I want to post photos of me wearing a bikini for the first time after 5 years. Good thing that after 5 years vintage swimwears are in trend again. I don't really want to expose a lot in my body unless I have something to expose for but for now, growing muscles esp. in the belly area is really difficult in my part. But you know, I'm pretty bold in my outfit as long as I think it really suits me and the occasion. Anyway, yeah! This is it! I'm now 46 kilos and unstoppable. This calls for a celebration right? Lol! But wait until I'm 45 kilos and I'm throwing a party. (Joke!) Well, maybe yeah! Just follow the 1200 calorie food intake guys and exercise a lot and you'll absolutely slim down.

Photos from my recent birthday celebration

Me wearing my DIY frayed shorts. I bought it for about 50 dollar cents (around P20.00) from a surplus shop then frayed them using a steel brush.

Me and my vintage high waisted bikini. I still have the pooch so I won't be wearing small bikinis yet.

Happy Birthday to myself. Thank you for being cooperative for the last 9 months. You deserve this body again 'coz you worked for it. (lol! just talking to myself)

Note: Photos above is I'm 48 kilos and photos below is I'm 46 kilos

━═★[̲̅̅H̲̅][̲̅̅A̲̅][̲̅̅P̲̅][̲̅̅P̲̅][̲̅̅Y̲̅] [̲̅̅B̲̅][̲̅̅I̲̅][̲̅̅R̲̅][̲̅̅T̲̅][̲̅̅H̲̅][̲̅̅D̲̅][̲̅̅A̲̅][̲̅̅Y̲̅]★═━ ¸.✿¨¯`✿´¸¸.✿¨¯`✿ `

Front and Back view of my outfit the last time I went out for grocery. I actually ate Halo-halo at this time. Anyway, the best halo-halo in town will be found at Goldilocks. Chowking's Halo2x is overrated!

The Perks of Being Slim & Fit

at 7/09/2013 0 comments
The perks of being slim and fit again is I can wear the clothes I'd love to wear. I really love to dress up ever since. I'm more into pastel or light color outfits. It's very rare for you to see me wear black or brown or any dark colors. I believe that light colors accentuate more my face and skin and it makes me look young. I don't want to look mature or old every time I dress up. I think I have this fear of getting old but I don't have a fear getting mature. I have a positive and happy personality but I admit there are some days that I feel so grumpy and bitter to everyone. I just can't help it maybe it's just the hormones getting over me.  I want this blog to be really my personal blog. I admit I owned a lot of blogs and I can't really maintain them all. I want to focus on something about myself this time. If you may, please follow me also in LookBook.

Flower Headband are so in right now but I already have them 5 years ago.

Corset type outfits I'm dying to try ever since.

Little black dress and I still can't believe I'm able to fit in them.

Chiffon or see through outfits makes your look soft and very feminine.

Just donning my cute lace up shoe or sandal (from J Crew) after 1 year of not wearing it 'coz my legs are so flabby.
